Who is Jason Yun?
I opened my company, Yun Strength and Fitness Systems LLC, in January of this year. I’m a big practitioner of Underground Training. I use it myself, and I use it when training my athletes and clients. I beleive there is no better way to build all-round, functional strength and conditioning for sport and fitness than this type of training.
If you aren’t familiar with it, it basically it is non-traditional training. You probably would consider traditional to be in a gym setting using a barbell, dumbbell, or a machine to train with. Underground Training uses a variety of odd looking and odd shaped implements. Stuff like beer kegs, kettlebells, sledgehammers, thick rope, heavy bags, dragging sleds, large rocks or stones, and the list goes on and on. Body weight exercises are also a big component of it. These implements force you to use your muscles in a way that you probably haven’t done before. Building up your prime movers and stabilizers to succeed in sport and life better than you could with just a dumbbell or barbell.
I’m not an expert in the way of Underground Training by no means. I’ve been training this way since 2006. It’s an old concept that is getting accepted more and more everyday. I constantly keep educating myself about the methodologies and techniques involved; you have to in the field of strength and conditioning, it is constantly changing and being updated with scientific and real-world findings that will continue to make athletics and fitness and nutrition better and better.
