Sweet kettlebell article and blowout sale

Nice article about kettlebells I found at the sentinelsource.com My favorite implement by far. Iron Woody’s having a blow out sale on them. But once they are gone they’re gone forever. They are a staple in my bootcamps. Enjoy the article!

In some circles, fitness means going back to basics

NEW YORK — Martha Zamirski had tried almost every fitness fad: pole dancing, spinning, step aerobics.

“I never saw results,” said the 26-year-old who lives in New York City. “I thought something was wrong with me.”

But earlier this year, Zamirski, managing director of a nonprofit theater company, gave up the pole, the bike and the step for a basic boot camp workout. So far, she has lost 20 pounds and dropped two dress sizes.

“I can see my abs now,” she said. “I have definition in my arms, definition in my legs. Everything kind of tightened.”

She’s among a growing number of people who are forgoing Bowflex machines, trampoline classes and “Dancing with the Stars” workouts in favor of a back-to-basics strategy. They’re emphasizing traditional exercises including pull-ups and old-fashioned tools such as kettlebells — something like a cannonball with a handle.

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Did a quick sledge hammer slams workout 1 set
16 rounds :20 work, :20 rest
Pounded it hard. Got the HR up big time.

Then moved onto heavy bag training. Just picking it up throwing over the shoulder, or slamming it to the ground, or push pressing it into the air, or speed deads.
Did 8 rounds of :24/:30.

Awesome workout. Don’t know the total time, but I was spent. Fat burning at it’s finest.

The Lebert Equalizer

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Just got this a couple days ago, and love it. Did a full body workout. Training plyos, strength, strength endurance and conditioning. Been hearing a lot about it, all the hype is true. Can’t wait to introduce this to my bootcamps.

First time trying these. Fun. Extra thick grip work with the bag and the positioning. Awesome exercise!

Universal Strength apparatus training @ playground

Did some training at the playground with the USA, universal strength apparatus. Love this thing. I know it’s about time, haven’t had much time to do playground training this summer, but love it when I do :)

Another quick prowler workout

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Prowler kicks my a$$ everytime I do it. But I still love it. Gasping for air after every set sort of makes me feel alive, I can’t describe it. Exercise releases endorphins that give you that ‘high’ feeling sensation, that’s really not what I feel. My feeling is more nauseating, I want to throw up kind of feeling. It feels like there is an army of little men inside of my quads punching them continously. I have never felt so much lactate acid build up in my quads after a long prowler sprint on the low bars. Unbelievable!

Today my workout was as follows

Are kettlebells expensive?

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Jason Yun Kettlebell snatch
If you look at the price of a kettlebell aroound the internet and in sporting goods stores, the price might scare somebody off.. Especially somebody that’s looking to start a home gym, or get into kettlebell training.
I’ve been looking at different prices online and have noticed a big difference in prices. Dragon door kettlebells are hyped as authentic Russian kb’s. Russia is supposedly the place where kb’s came from. If you look at there kettlebells they range from $65 to $248. For a 10 pound bell it’s $65, a 53 lber is $110, and a 106 lber is $248. Yikes! I can see why that would scare somebody off.
