I went to Indianapolis this past weekend to attend the Indianapolis Performance Seminar with Mike RObertson and Bill Hartman, I’ll probably be posting something about here soon, it was really good seminar. Usually when I take a road trip I don’t follow my diet as well and this trip was no exception. I went McDonalds for breakfast. Ordered a sausage egg mcmuffin and a sausage wrap or burrito. As a strength and fitness pro I noticed they put the nutritional facts on the SEM, I wonder how many people that fequent McDonalds notice, or even care for that matter.
SEM NUtritional Facts
Calories 450
Total fat 27G (42% daily value)
Saturated Fat 10 g (51% DV)
Cholesterol 285 mg (95% dv)
Sodium 920 mg (38% dv)
Carbs 30g
Protein 21 g
Those daily values are written write on the wrapper and are based on a 2000 kcal diet. The wrap didn’t have the info on it, but I’m sure with all the sausage, cheese, and egg in it that I consumed probably 60-70% of an average person’s diet of fat and probably 80-90% of my sat fat in less than 15 minutes. Although this was a cheat meal for me, I couldn’t help but notice the people around there eating. Wondering how many times a week they come in, seeing the kids in there, overweight people really makes me sad.
Education is what is needed. If you haven’t seen the documentary Super Size Me, I highly recommend it.
Once in a while is ok for a cheat meal, because it does taste so good. But I always notice after filling my body with crap that I feel the same way for a few hours. Let’s be nutritionally smart. America is the fattest country in the world and shows no signs of slowing down. Educate, Implement, Live It!
